Last month, we welcomed a group of customers to New Zealand for our Tree to Board Experience – an opportunity to step back and look at what sits behind every roll of folding boxboard.
In an industry where performance, consistency, and sustainability are increasingly critical, understanding the full value chain has never been more important.
From nursery through to finished board, the journey is both complex and deliberate.
It begins with fibre – carefully grown and sourced, with a strong focus on sustainability and long-term resource management. From there, the process moves into pulping and fibre development, where strength, bulk, and performance characteristics are engineered into the material.
At WML, multiple stages – forming, pressing, drying, coating, and finishing – work together to create a product that must perform consistently across a wide range of applications, from FMCG to food service and beyond.
Finally, the journey extends beyond production, through logistics and export – ensuring that material arrives reliably, wherever it is needed globally.
What this experience reinforces is that paperboard is more than a commodity. It is the result of:
- Integrated supply chains
- Technical expertise
- Continuous investment in quality and sustainability
At WML, this end-to-end approach allows us to offer not just product, but partnership – working closely with converters and brand owners to deliver solutions that perform.
For those looking to explore our range further, we’ve recently introduced online sample ordering, providing easier access to our full portfolio of grades.
